Devotional Review: Beautiful Me

Beautiful Me: Believing God’s Truth about You by Stasi Eldredge

Fantastic read! Provides devotional thoughts for women of all ages. The devotionals are short, pithy, and has a strong Biblical basis. Best feature: book addresses that small, nagging voice within all women; regarding our self worth.

This is a new devotional that I was privileged to review (for free) from netgalley.com

Update on Doctors Visits

This past week involved visiting two doctors.  I saw pain management, who advised another bursa injection for the bursa on the upper part of my affected leg.  Then I saw the surgeon who agreed to move forward with the recommended injection.  The injection is scheduled for Friday.  I truly hate needles.  I should be used to them by now, but I can honestly say they freak me out.  If you have a moment to pray for me, I would truly appreciate it.

New Year: New Goals

This post is a little past due, but needs to be shared nonetheless.  This New Year provides many opportunities, which I will attempt to share here.  My main goal for this upcoming year is to regain my mobility.  Other goals for the upcoming year are to read and review more books, knit more, and complete my MBA with the Leadership cognate.

My journey of regaining my mobility has been a rough one thus far.  I was injured about three years ago, and the diagnostic process was quite lengthy.  I finally had surgery on July 8, 2015 to fuse my SI joint.  I had no idea how rough the recovery process would be.  I was nonweight bearing for over two months, then moved to a walker.  The walker made me impressed of the little old ladies who use them, the walker was a energy sapping venture.  After the walker came a cane.  Now, I am slowly building up my stamina.  Currently, I can walk about 2-3 aisle of the grocery store, then its back in a wheelchair for the rest of the trip.    Currently, I am awaiting a followup appointment with my surgeon to address my heightened state of pain.  My goal in this area of life is to be able to walk without pain, get off the pain medications (narcotics and muscle relaxers), and be able to drive again.

Reading, I absolutely love to read…just about anything.  I am a reviewer for Netgalley.com and get to preview and review upcoming books!  I am hoping to get more reviews done this year.

Knitting is my natural pain management tool.  It keeps my hands and mind busy, so I do not focus as much on my pain.  This past Christmas I gave away 3 full sized blankets to my niece and nephews.  I am hoping to make some more blankets this year.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream

I received a sample of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream in my latest Influenster box.  The cream is fragrance free, which is not a choice that I typically make with my facial care products.  The texture of the cream is rich, and creamy.  The product absorbs quickly without leaving behind a greasy, or sticky residue.  This product is perfect for taking care of my dry, winter weather related skin issues.  I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster, but all opinions are my own.   #Cheerphil and #sponsored.

Just finished a Great Read

This is my review that I shared of it on amazon:

Live to Air: An Ethan Benson Thriller
Live to Air: An Ethan Benson Thriller
Price: $7.99

Live to Air is a fantastically written novel, with many surprising twists. This is not my typical choice for reading genres, but I am hooked. Jeffery L. Diamond truly encapsulated the character of Ethan Benson, and made me feel like I was apart of the action. This book got me in trouble a couple of nights (could not put it down to go to sleep)! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Tired of Being Tired

I am so tired of being tired.  Tired of being stuck in a daze, semi-aware of what is going on with very poor short term memory (can’t even remember to water my plants)!  I am slowly gaining back my brain from this narcotic laced fog.  Slowly finding myself again.  This will be a time consuming process.  Currently, on 1 long acting and 4 short acting diladid (on a good day, add 1-2 short acting on bad days).  Will my life ever return to normal?  I am trusting in God to bring me through this process.  I never imagined that this surgery would be this difficult to recover from.  Everyone says that I am on par for recovery, but I feel like I am out in left field.  That is my rant for today!

Breakdown & A Fall Flu

So, I have not posted lately because I came down with a touch of a fall flu.  Achy all over, slight fever, congested, and just generally ick.  I started feeling poorly over the weekend, started while John was at work; and I am finally starting to get a bit of energy back.

I saw pain management the beginning of last week.  The visit went as expected!  I am slowly weaning down off of the narcotic pain medication.  I hate the way the meds screw with my mind, but thankful I can start taking less of them.

But the car ride home took forever.  The driver’s side rear brake locked up, and started smoking in Malvern.  So called AAA for a tow to Gilbertsville (24 miles).  So glad that we upgraded to unlimited towing, otherwise it would have been $2.75 per mile over three miles.  The ride in the tow truck was very bumpy.  Schaeffer’s Automotive took great care of us.  I ended up calling my mom to get a ride for lunch (after 8 hours after leaving house).  The car was fixed when we were done lunch.  Needless to say that made the day very long.
